How to Choose a Nail Service: Start With Your Goal

How to choose a nail service comes down to one question: what do you want from the visit? At Nailed It Spa in Fresno, natural nail care points to a manicure or pedicure, added length points to acrylic or Gel X, and a new finish points to add-ons. Waxing and head spa cover everything else.

How to choose a nail service by what you want from the visit

Start with the goal, then compare the steps, time and price inside that category. The sections below take each category in turn, and you can mix goals by telling the salon what you have in mind when you book.

Which manicure fits your hands?

Pick a manicure by the steps you want. Signature Mani is the shortest at 30 minutes, and Mega Manicure is the longest of the four at 90 minutes. Gel polish adds $15 to any manicure or pedicure.

The manicure category also lists three more services. French Manicure costs $28 for 60 minutes, Pink and White costs $60 for 75 minutes, and Gel Builder costs $55 for 60 minutes. Builder gel is mainly used as an overlay on natural nails.

Which pedicure fits your feet?

Choose a pedicure by the steps you want and the time you have. Classic Pedicure is the shortest at 45 minutes and Mega Pedicure is the longest at 90. The Includes column lists the steps in each one.

Acrylic, Gel X or dip powder: which one?

Acrylic and Gel X both add length, while Dip Powder is a colored powder finish. Acrylic usually feels harder and more rigid, and Gel X, a soft-gel extension, usually feels lighter and more flexible.

Acrylic Full Set costs $50 and takes 60 minutes. Gel X costs $60 for 60 minutes, and Dip Powder costs $50 for 60 minutes. Fills keep a set going: Acrylic Fill costs $40 for 45 minutes, and Gel X Fill costs $45 for 45 minutes.

Gel X commonly lasts about three to four weeks, and acrylic is usually filled every two to three weeks.

Come to the salon when a set needs to come off. Take Off Acrylic costs $20 and takes 25 minutes. Browse all the acrylic services.

Which add-on gives the finish you want?

Add-ons change the finish or add a step. Chrome Finish and Cat Eye each cost $10 (20 and 25 minutes), French Tip costs $8 (15 minutes), Color Change costs $25 (20 minutes), and Nail Art costs $5 per nail (10 minutes).

Hand Massage ($15, 30 minutes) and Paraffin ($10, 10 minutes) add a care step rather than a look. See every option under add-ons.

When does waxing make sense?

Waxing is hair removal, and you choose it by area. Small areas include Eyebrow Wax ($15, 15 minutes) and Upper Lip ($15, 10 minutes). Larger ones include Full Arms ($55, 45 minutes) and Full Legs ($65, 65 minutes).

Is head spa the right choice?

Head spa covers scalp, hair and face treatments. Luna Shampoo costs $70 and takes 45 minutes, Nova Facial costs $85 for 60 minutes, and Stella Treatment costs $125 for 90 minutes. The head spa page has the details.

What should you tell the salon when you book?

Say which category you want, what is on your nails now if you are changing a set, and which add-ons you would like. If you have a health condition, pain or a skin problem, ask a doctor or podiatrist first and tell the salon when you book. Then book your appointment.
